How to Fit Bathroom Trims and Edge Profiles: The Finishing Guide
Panel trims are the difference between a bathroom installation that looks professional and one that gives away the DIY. They cover all the places where panels meet — corners, ceiling, floor, windows, and edges — creating a clean, finished look and a watertight seal.
Types of Bathroom Panel Trims

General Rules for Fitting All Trims
- Always fix trims before the panels they support — panels slot into the trim channel
- Use solvent-free adhesive
- Seal all joints with colour-matched waterproof silicone after fitting
- Mitre corners at 45° for the neatest finish at external corners
Fitting Internal Corner Trims
- Cut to height (floor to ceiling, minus 5mm at each end)
- Apply panel adhesive to the back face
- Press firmly into the corner and check it's plumb with a spirit level
- Panel both walls, sliding the first panel on each wall into the trim channel
- Run a thin bead of silicone along the open channel edge
Fitting External Corner Trims
- Fit one wall's panels first, up to and slightly past the corner
- Trim the panels flush at the corner edge
- Apply adhesive to the external corner trim's back face
- Press over the corner, covering both wall ends
- Seal along both edges of the trim with silicone
Fitting Ceiling Trims
- Cut the ceiling trim to length for each wall, mitring the corners at 45°
- Apply adhesive to the back face
- Press to the ceiling, overlapping both the top of the panels and the ceiling surface
- Run a thin bead of silicone along both edges
Colour Matching Trims to Panels
Trims are available in white (suits most panels), chrome (for high-gloss panels), and black (for dark panels). Choose a trim colour that blends with the panel rather than contrasting sharply.
